1994 Isle of Man Silver Cat (in capsule) - value?

I bought one of these recently along with some cheapers bars etc. It comes in a capsule, the capsule is placed in a square foam holder, and with a "Certificate of Authenticity" (basically a paper card).

Do people collect these?

Do they have value above and beyond the silver content?

If so, I might trade it for some SAE's, I will post in the buy/sell thread I suppose if there is interest.

There some value above the metal value. These silver coins are mainly collector coins. Those Isle of Man silver cats have large premiums on them. There are some people that collect them as well as the gold Isle of Man cats. The silver cat coins will probably do well on ebay in terms of getting a huge premium for them IMO.

Here are some examples of ebay auctions for silver Isle of Man coins:

http://cgi.ebay.com/2005-Isle-of-Man...3A1%7C294%3A50

http://cgi.ebay.com/2006-Isle-of-Man...3A1%7C294%3A50

If your silver Isle of Man cat is a proof coin, you might be able to get a good amount of money on ebay whenever you decide to sell it.

Question?----> Is your 1994 Isle of Man a 1-oz silver proof coin?
I am not sure if these two auctions will go the first time around and this ebay seller may have to relist those two silver cat coins

Excellent catch!

It is in fact a proof coin... I just looked at the little card that came with it!

Actually, I do not have any 1-oz silver Isle of Man cats. Those two auctions that I found on ebay are just examples of what your coin might fetch on ebay if you decided to sell it on ebay.

Sorry if I told you wrong but I did not buy a 1-oz silver Isle of Man cat on ebay.:signs14:

EDIT: Actually, I did have what I considered was an excellent catch on ebay for a 1-oz silver round. It was a 1-oz silver art round from Golden State Mint that I won on ebay for a total amount of $15.00. See my pics of this 1-oz silver round here:

Just out of curiosity, what type of cat is on the 1994 Isle of Man coin? Does it say what type of cat it is on the certificate that came with the coin?

I googled it and it looks to be a Japanese Bobtail:

ShortJohnSilver, you might also want to check (google) to see if the 1994 Isle of Man is a key date (i.e. lowest mintage relative to other 1-oz silver Isle of Man cats). If it is, you might be able to sell it for more money (if you choose to sell it). Just an idea.

I can't seem to find the mintage numbers anywhere. But it seems in-demand enough...

I will probably trade it for x number of SAE's as I have done in the past with other stuff.
